Janney ‘Chiquis’ Rivera/Marin, the oldest daughter of the late Banda singer, Jenni Rivera will be in El Paso this Saturday. She will promote her latest memoir “Forgiveness” at 1 p.m. at Walmart, 9441 Alameda. Rivera’s book will be released on Tuesday.
Rivera said she wrote the book to share her journey of forgiveness. She told the El Paso Times the book serves as inspiration. “I wanted to clean up the mess that had been caused because of so many rumors and things that were being said, negative things.”
The singer was rumored to having an affair with her mother’s now ex-husband, former MLB pitcher Esteban Loaiza. The allegations were denied by both. Because of the allegations, she and her mother’s relationship became strained two months before her death. While touring in Mexico, Jenni Rivera, along with seven others died in a plane crash near Nuevo León, Mexico in December 2012. Jenni was a mother to five children. She won numerous awards for her music.
“I wanted to really tell my side of the story to inspire or help other people not make the same mistakes I’ve made. As I kept writing the book, I realized there was so much more. It was more my journey to forgiveness and everything I have encountered in my life, Rivera told the El Paso Times.”
Rivera writes about the pain of losing her mother’s trust, being sexually abused and the history of troubled relationships, the El Paso Times reported. Reports online say she and other members of her family were sexually abused by her father, Jose Trinidad Marin. He was sentenced to more than 31 years in prison without parole.
“Despite the many trials and tribulations during her life, Chiquis’ difficult past has not broken her spirit, according to the publisher’s press release.”
Chiquis stars in the reality TV shows on Mun2, “Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis & Raq-C”, “I Love Jenni” and “Chiquis n’ Control.” She is known for her songs, “La Malquerida”, “Esa no soy Yo” and a song she dedicated to her mother after her death, “Paloma Blanca.” Chiquis plans on releasing her first album in June.
She will appear in an upcoming movie, “Tattooed Love” and has a web series, “Chiquis Confidential.” Rivera appeared on the cover of People en Español and in the magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful segment. Millions of fans follow her on different social media web sites.
“My mom always said that you’re supposed to bless others with what God has blessed you with. I definitely want to keep on going with that and be an extension of that, so my brothers and sisters can also do the same.” Rivera has custody of her two siblings, Johnny and Jenicka Lopez.
Rivera will continue her book tour in Los Angeles, New York and Miami.
The Hollywood Times and Wikipedia were also used.
Yeah a lot of drama. I might go. A lot of people don’t like her but her mom was a different story.
