Movie Review: “Chappie”

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope everyone is having a great day! I’m just doing chores around the house. I have to go buy groceries in a bit. As I mentioned last night, we watched Chappie. Please keep in mind, I typically have an open mind towards most of the movies I watch and write about. Chappie was in one word…terrible. Guys, don’t even bother wasting your time and money with this one. It wasn’t even worth the $1.50 I spent. I’m so glad we didn’t watch this movie at the theater or else I would’ve walked out.

I tried to get into the movie but it was impossible. The movie’s creators attempt to duplicate RoboCop and Short Circuit on several occasions. The movie was an insult to these classics. The characters, storyline and music were incredibly annoying. The movie takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa. It’s the good guys versus the bad guys. Everyone wants the robots. The robot’s creator is kidnapped by the bad guys. South African musicians (if you can call them that) Die Antwoord play the bad guys. Sigourney Weaver and Hugh Jackman also star in the movie. Chappie has to be the worst movie they’ve both appeared in.

All of the characters, including Die Antwoord attempt to be serious but miserably fail at it. Their music and ‘rapping’ is awful and obnoxious. I was happy and excited to watch the movie but it led me to disappointment. Guys, I really wanted to like this movie but I unfortunately couldn’t.  Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! 🙂

  1. Gosh, you must have been in a bad mood before you watched it. I saw this movie recently, and while it wasn’t nearly as good as Interstellar, it certainly wasn’t terrible. You young kids, must be totally entertained 24/7. 🙂
