I recently had the pleasure of interviewing my writer/blogger friend Lisa Amaya. Here’s what she had to say about herself and her writing.

At what age did you start writing?

I started writing when I was 6 years old and in the first grade. I wrote a story about a snowman for a school wide contest and won. The story was published in a literary anthology. I was excited when I won a blue ribbon and medal. Since then, I’ve been writing poetry and stories throughout my life. I don’t write poetry anymore. It stopped after the whole puppy love/school girl crush phase ended for me as a teenager. I took a break from writing between mid- 2010 and January 2015.

What inspires you to write?

The world around me has always inspired me to write. My ideas usually come from current events, life situations, music and movies.
