Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

Hi everyone! Friday would’ve been Martin Luther King Jr’s 87th birthday. His birthday is always honored on the third Monday of January here in the U.S. Schools, banks and some businesses shut down for the day. I like several of MLK’s quotes but the one above has always been my favorite.

Around this time of year, I also like to read about his life. Learning about historical events has always been one of my favorite things to do. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a movie or musical about his life. Today is is the first time in a long time I have the day off from work. Enjoy the rest of your day! Today is a good day to learn something new or help someone in need. To be honest, everyday is a good day! Today (and everyday) is always a good day to teach kids about loving and accepting themselves and others. I think it’s what Martin Luther King Jr. would’ve liked.

  10. There was a movie about him, “Selma”, released in 2014 I believe. Great film, but some were upset that the leading man, David Oyelowo, didn’t receive an Oscar nomination. Still much work to do.
