El Paso is in for a HUGE music festival on Memorial Day Weekend (May 28-29)! The 2016 headliners for the 6th annual Neon Desert Music Festival include: Tiësto, Deftones, Future, Daddy Yankee and Carnage & Special Guests. Other performers include: Ludacris, Tyler, The Creator; A$AP Ferg & Tory Lanez, Natalia Lafourcade, Duke Dumont, MUTEMATH, STRFKR, AlunaGeorge, Niykee Heaton, along with 30 other acts. The festival takes place over 15 city blocks in the heart of downtown El Paso, along with the city parks Cleveland Square and San Jacinto Plaza.

EDM (Electronic Dance Music) pioneer Tiësto is no stranger to the Sun City! He’s said to bring the party to El Paso all night long! Tiësto has worked with a variety of EDM and mainstream artists throughout the years.

American Rock band Deftones will perform songs from their upcoming album Gore. Their album is set for release in April. Future will perform in support of his two recent hip-hop albums, Purple Reign and Evol.

Internationally acclaimed Reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee and DJ/producer Carnage are expected to bring in special guests to the weekend-long event. Reggaeton music has a Latino and Caribbean sound to it.The music genre derives from Panama and Jamaica. Several Reggaeton artists hail from Puerto Rico and other Latin American countries. The music became mainstream in 2004. It spread to North American, European, Asian and African audiences.

Several hip-hop acts will also take the stage. One of the most well-known artists this year is Ludacris. The Atlanta-based rapper has won several awards as a hip-hop artist and actor.

According to a news release, more than 100,000 have attended Neon Desert in the past five years. Some past musicians included: J. Cole, Kaskade, G-Eazy, Wiz Khalifa, MGMT, Capital Cities and Moby. Neon Desert Music Festival began for El Pasoans by El Pasoans. The festival also features several El Paso artists and DJ’s. Aside from three stages, a silent disco stage, multiple live art installations, food vendors and merchants will be available.
