Life and Friends

Hi everyone! Today has been a pretty LONG day! If you’ve been following my blog lately, you’ll know I was in a car accident nine days ago. It’s been pretty rough on my health and life! After getting a concussion, my forehead and the back of my head constantly hurt! Sometimes it feels like someone is repeatedly punching me! It starts hurting even more whenever I get stressed out and/or upset. Since I haven’t been feeling well, I went back to the hospital this morning. I was going to go last night but I went today.

Due to stress and my head injury, my blood pressure was very high. It eventually went down after a few hours. Depending on how I feel, I might go back to the doctor on Monday. The doctor didn’t want to put me on any blood pressure medication. I’ve read an aspirin a day helps keep one’s blood pressure down. I hope this will help me. I would also like to start exercising again when this pain goes away. I started working out two months ago but I stopped in March. Luckily, I’ve lost a few pounds since the last time I was weighed. I would like to lose about 5-10 pounds in the next few months. Today I weigh 125 pounds. I would be much happier at 115-120 lbs.

My baby! They grow up so fast!

My Jacob got an award at school this morning. I’m glad I was able to be there for him this morning. My son’s earned the Terrific Kid Award every year since he’s been in school. In case you’re interested, you can read more about the award here. He’s only been at his new school for about two months now. I feel bad because I haven’t really been able to take him anywhere since I don’t have a car. I also feel bad because I haven’t been spending as much quality time with him after the accident. I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have such an amazing and strong support system. I’m lucky to have a family whose always had my back during good and bad times. My family has helped me SO much these past few months, especially during the hard times in my life. My grandparents, mom and one of my uncles have been helping me take care of my son a lot. They’ve also been giving me rides. My boss and co-workers have also been very understanding.

Lately, several local friends and blogging buddies have also shown a lot of concern towards me. Lynn from Lynn’s Real Cooking featured me on her weekly Friday Friends segment today. Lynn’s blog is a MUST read for me! She always comes up with such amazing recipes. She makes cooking seem SO easy! Lynn also blogs about her nine children and former life in Saudi Arabia. She plans on publishing a book about her life and recipes in the future. You can check out her post and wonderful blog here.

Another good friend who’s always been really kind to me is Karin from Germany. I was fortunate to meet Karin at my day job back in 2014 (I can’t believe it’s already been that long!). I work in advertising at my day job. I met Karin on the phone at work because she wanted to place an ad. I don’t get to meet all of my customers in person but…fortunately I got to meet her! It’s pretty sad I met her when she and her husband were in the process of moving back to Germany. Her husband is an officer in the German military. He and Karin lived in El Paso because he was stationed here. Although me and Karin only met twice in person, she continues to be a part of my life. She’s called me a few times just to see how I’m doing. She also e-mails me regularly. Karin even follows my blog via e-mail. I hope she and her husband are able to move back to El Paso someday. I’ll never forget the cute German teddy bear she gave me and my son. I haven’t finished packing at my new place so right now he’s hiding 🙂

Sharon’s beautiful charm. Photo by Sharon from Element Healing.

Last but certainly not least, my good friend Sharon from Element Healing mailed me a beautiful gift and card yesterday. She created a charm with various gemstones and crystals. The charm was created to help bring more love and abundance into my life. It’s also supposed to help with healing the body and relationships. I enjoy reading Sharon’s blog regularly. She blogs about living a healthy and positive life. You would most likely feel at peace or learn something new from her. I recently interviewed Sharon here for Women’s History Month. If you haven’t read the interview, you can take a look at it here.

I also want to take the time to say thank you to all of my other blogging buddies here. I’ve met so many wonderful bloggers in a little over a year! I hope to meet some, if not all of you in person sometime! Have a great weekend, everyone! I plan on taking it easy tomorrow and Sunday. I’ll have more music and posts for you this weekend so please stay tuned!

  1. Your son sounds like a remarkable young man, and congrats to him and to you.

I’m also sending you my best wishes for recovery, Lisa. If your symptoms don’t clear pretty fast, start making notes of how you feel each day.

A car accident almost completely changed my life, but keeping journals helped me talk to doctors and therapists, and, eventually a book. Ironically, it was a doctor who urged me to write a journal, and though I am stuck with some long term injuries, writing that journal has been a life saver in several ways.

    Again, my best wishes.

  8. That’s really kind of you to say, Lisa! I was so nervous and I had several relatives who heard the interview tell me they could tell I was nervous at first but that I ‘calmed down’ after a while! *LOL* I know it is strange to be familiar with fellow bloggers but not know what they sound like! I am grateful that the producer of the show said I could be on again sometime. I really appreciate that! Cher xo
