Good morning and happy Saturday everyone! Today I’m in the mood to relax so I’m featuring La Ley (The Law). The five-member band was formed in Santiago, Chile in 1987. Although the band broke up for a few years in 2005, they are currently back together and touring. I hope I get to see them on May 5 here at the El Paso County Coliseum.
I discovered La Ley’s music when I was in high school. My favorite La Ley album is from their live performance on MTV Unplugged. This is still their best selling album today. The album allowed them to gain more popularity in the United States. It was released in 2001. I’ve always enjoyed watching MTV Unplugged. A lot of great bands and musicians have performed on it. Some of my favorite MTV Unplugged episodes that come to mind include: La Ley, Nirvana, 10,000 Maniacs, Mariah Carey and Stone Temple Pilots.
El Duelo (The Duel)
The first song I included comes from the 2001 movie soundtrack, Crazy/Beautiful. The movie is about two high school students from different cultures who fall in love. Kirsten Dunst and Jay Hernandez star in the movie. When the movie first came out, it was one of my favorites. I also included a few of La Ley’s songs from their MTV Unplugged album. El Duelo (The Duel) features Mexican singer and songwriter, Ely Guerra. What do you think? Have a great day, everyone! I will see you later on today and/or tomorrow.
