Hi everyone! I hope your Monday was good. Mine was busy and HOT! It reached 102 today but it felt like 110! I know I blogged about the recent U.S. shootings and protests a few days ago but…it’s still very much on my mind. I have a lot of mixed feelings about it. Even if some might disagree with what I have to say, I’m going to say it anyway. Thankfully, I have the freedom to speak my mind. You of course have the freedom to disagree.
I’m not for only black lives matter, I’m for ALL LIVES MATTER! I’ve been reading about the Black Lives Matter movement lately and I don’t completely agree with the movement. Why? Because I think they are excluding others in their fight. I see that other races support and march with them but…it just seems to me like the fight is only about them and it isn’t (or shouldn’t be). Blacks aren’t the only race who have racial and/or police issues. If I had a dollar for every story I’ve heard from Latinos, blacks, whites and gays, I’d be kind of rich. I’m not talking about what we see in the mainstream media daily. I’m talking about people who have actually told me stories in person, stories that don’t make the news.
Throughout my 34 years of life, I’ve heard countless stories by Latinos, Blacks, whites and gays. Since El Paso is 82 percent Hispanic, the majority of the stories I’ve heard are told by Latinos. For example, a Latino man came into work looking for an editor. He claims he’s gone to several local attorneys and media outlets to tell his story. He said he was shot countless times by cops a few years back. I don’t think he’s lying because he showed me the scars. He said he was cut up like a ‘hot dog weenie’ in order for doctors to remove the bullets. He told me nobody wanted to tell his story because it would be a conflict of interest between the law and attorneys. He didn’t give me his name but I believe his story. I know there are three sides to every story (party one’s, party two’s and the truth). I don’t know the cop’s side. Our conversation was cut short because he was asked to leave the building. He said he’d return but he hasn’t. One thing I can say after hearing his story is that angels truly exist in this life. Miracles happen all the time.
Do I hate cops? No. I have a nice story to tell about a cop who pulled me over for some violations a few years back. This cop could’ve easily given me tickets but fortunately he didn’t. I was pulled over for running a red light, no insurance or registration. He let me go on a warning and told me to get my insurance and registration ASAP. There is a light in downtown El Paso that requires you to make a complete stop at a red light even if you’re turning right. The cop pulled me over for not stopping. I said I was sorry and he was kind enough to let me go. It’s probably inappropriate to say this but I thought he was very handsome. I was single at the time!
I’ve been pulled over countless other times. I wasn’t happy with other cops and some of the other outcomes I’ve had. Why lie? I’m not an angel or saint and I don’t claim to be. I have a clean record but at the same time I have stories. I don’t hate anyone but I’ll be honest with you…I have a hard time trusting at times… this includes cops. I have my reasons and one day I’ll share more. I think all kinds of people from different races should unite as one. With the way things are going right now, I don’t see it happening anytime soon. There are good and bad people (cops included) from every race. This Black Eyed Peas song speaks volumes to me. The lyrics are still on point years later. If you made it this far into the post, thank you! I’ll be back tomorrow with more music and posts. Take care everyone! We are one!
