Hi everyone. News of hip-hop artist DTTX (Don’t Try To Xerox/Bobby Ramirez) passing away spread on social media Wednesday night. One of his Facebook friends posted the following on his wall: “Praying for peace for your family.. I’ve known you for over 28years back i the days latin lovers.. My you rest in peace.. (sic). However his close friend DJ ODM (One Dope Mexican/Robert Gutierrez) told KGGI 99.1 Ramirez is currently on life support in a Las Vegas hospital.
Ramirez and Gutierrez founded the hip-hop group Lighter Shade of Brown in 1990. Their song, “On a Sunday Afternoon” and several others peaked on U.S. and various worldwide music charts. Their songs appeared in the movies, “Mi Vida Loca” and “I Like it Like That.” Lighter Shade of Brown was active in the hip-hop music scene between 1990 and 1999. After the duo’s 12-year hiatus, they released the album “It’s a Wrap” in 2011. LSOB has performed in and around El Paso throughout the years. Today I’m leaving you with some of their songs. I grew up listening to them as a teenager. From time to time, I still hear their songs on the radio. I’m keeping DTTX and his loved ones in my thoughts. Take care everyone. I’ll be back later on today and/or this weekend.
