Hi everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start! I just came back from Albuquerque earlier this afternoon! I had a great time! I’ll post about it tomorrow. Let’s just say it involves A LOT of food! 😀
Today’s Romantic Tuesday song here is Keith Sweat’s 1987 hit “Make it Last Forever.” Keith Sweat is considered to be a music pioneer in his own right. According to Wikipedia, his debut album”Make it Last Forever” was one of the first albums to showcase the new jack swing sound. New Jack Swing fused hip-hop, pop and dance music in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Countless bands and singers like Keith Sweat, New Edition, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Paula Abdul, Kylie Minogue, Bell Biv Devoe, Tony! Toni! Toné, Bobby Brown, etc. created NJS-type songs.
I still consider “Make it Last Forever” to be one of the most romantic songs…ever! Although it was also sang by R&B artists Kenny Lattimore and Chanté Moore in 2003, the original is my favorite. Keith Sweat’s song became a triple platinum hit by the Recording Industry Association of America in 1994. A triple platinum hit means at least three million units of the song were sold.
My blogging buddy Tracy from A Joyful Process is quite the new jack swing expert. He’s featured several singers and bands from the era in his daily Morning Groove posts. I enjoyed his recent posts on Bell Biv Devoe’s “Poison” and “Feels Good” by Tony! Toni! Toné. The songs are somewhat romantic but mostly catchy. You can check out the posts right here. From time to time, Tracy also features new music in his Jam It or Slam It? segment. Some songs here are romantic while others aren’t. Be sure and also check out his weekly Romantic Tuesday posts. Have a great rest of your Tuesday, everyone and I will be back with more posts.
🍷🍾🍺🍹I’m ready! 😃

True! I think the cheesecake was probably frozen. It was still good but you can’t beat fresh homemade brownies! 😊

[…] that it has been put out that I’m something of a New Jack Swing expert (haha! thanks, Lisa), I guess I’ve got to choose a song from that era for today’s […]

I have this thing about fresh food, and I’m not sure the cheesecake was that fresh. Maybe it’s because I had just made those cheesecake brownies (with fresh cream cheese), but I thought my brownies were better than the cheesecake. Yeah, I said it. 😀

I wanted ice cream on mine!

Do you even have to ask? The cheesecake didn’t last long. Some of it even ended up on my keyboard. I thought the whipped cream was the best part. I should look for a recipe for whipped cream pie… 🙂

I will never eat again. (The marshmallow cookies were good. I tasted coconut.) 🙂

Excellent choice, Lisa! That song is one of the standard ballads of the New Jack Swing era.
