Hi everyone and happy Saturday! I hope your weekend is off to a great start! Since today is Saturday, a local band or musician is featured here on Life of an El Paso Woman. Today is a big day for hip-hop artist Rmllw2llz (Romell with 2 l’s)! He’s launching his latest EP, “New Growf!” I included a blog post about my high school classmate on May 12, 2015. In case you missed it, you can check it out right here.
Although Rmllw2llz doesn’t live in El Paso anymore, he grew up here in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Rmllw2llz currently stays busy in the Louisville, Kentucky hip-hop scene. Aside from recording music and touring, he also hosts a radio show. He plans on launching “New Growf” at a release show with other hip-hop acts. The show takes place at Headliners Music Hall in Louisville this Saturday night. Rmllw2llz was recently interviewed in the music blog, “Never Nervous.” Feel free to check out the interview here. Today I’m leaving you with the song “Keep the Faith” from his latest EP. His album will be available for download and purchase next week here. You can follow Rmllw2llz on social media. His Facebook page is right here and his Twitter is here. Have a great Saturday, everyone! I’ll be back with more music and posts on Sunday!

Racine, wow that isn’t too far from me at all. Been to Louisville. That’s a nice place, and no cold or snow! Smart guy 🙂

Wow! I really like Joan Osborne! It’s definitely happening in Louisville! 😃

I have. The music scene has always been great here, with Sam Bush, Joan Osborne, Ben Solee, etc. all from this area. But the success of MMJ and James’ prolific producing and willingness to promote new artists, plus the growth of the Forecastle Festival, and our fantastic NPR station, WFPK, it’s skyrocketed in the past 5-10 years. He’s in a good place. 😃

Ohh awesome! Have you heard of the blog he was interviewed in? It’s called Never Nervous and it’s from Louisville. They cover the music scene there.

Gotcha. Well, he’s in a great music scene here. Jim James from My Morning Jacket is from here as well and has set up a recording studio and is collaborating with and producing tons of new music. Hope has a great show and that his career takes off. 😃

I think his wife is from there. He’s originally from Racine, Wisconsin. He came to El Paso in the late 90’s to live with family. I knew him from track.

It’s not a big venue, but loved around here. How’d he end up here?

I’m familiar with him, I’m from Louisville. The music scene here is really great, including hip-hop. And Headliners Music Hall is a terrific venue. All standing-room only and one can get right next to the stage if they choose to. Hope he has a fantastic show! 😃
