#RomanticTuesday 8-16-16

Hi everyone! I hope your Tuesday is off to a great start! Welcome to Romantic Tuesday! “Besame Mucho” (kiss me generously) has been sung by various artists over the years. Google says the song was written in 1940 by Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velasquez. The song was recognized as one of the most sung and recorded songs by Mexican artists in 1999. However, artists from other parts of the world also sing it too. “Besame Mucho” is also known as one of the most famous boleros, a slow Latin dance song. According to Wikipedia, boleros originate from Spain, Mexico and Cuba.

I included a few versions I enjoy most. I’ve also heard the song by different mariachi bands. My favorite version growing up was by Luis Miguel. I still enjoy the pop sound it has. Back in February, I did a post about him and a few of his songs. In case you missed it, you can take a look at it right here. My post includes a duet he sang with Frank Sinatra and more. Don’t be surprised if you see more Luis Miguel songs here in the future. He’s still one of my favorite singers. Do you have a favorite version of this song? Which one do you like most out of the versions I included? Have a great day, everyone! I’ll be back Wednesday with 915 Art. My apologies on the delay of this segment!

  1. Thank you Lisa. You made me feel better. I just can’t believe that I was thinking the wrong language all this time.
That is funny about the cops in Italy. Girl I prolly would have been drawing pictures and shit!

  2. Lol. Some of the words are the same. True Story: I once got lost in Italy. I spoke to the cops in Spanish and they picked up what I was saying. Basically this song is says to kiss them a lot. They’re scared of losing their lover in time so they want to be kissed a lot. They want to kiss them as if it was the last time.

  3. Hey Amiga! Thanks for coming by! Michael Buble has such a sexy everything! Lol. 😍 Luis Miguel’s is my favorite version. I could listen to his music all day and night. I had the biggest crush on him when I was a teenager. Lol.

  4. This is definitely a romantic song. I didn’t know about the Thalía and Michael Bublé version. I got a soft spot for that Canadian crooner 😉 She didn’t convince me, though…her version seems a little ‘fake’ to me. Not sure why, but it just seems mechanical.
I normally prefer female voices over male voices but I actually like Luis Miguel’s faster version. Those are my 2 cents 😉

  5. I guess romance can be any day during the week? Sure, two days sounds great! It actually sounds better on a Monday! I’m glad you had a great Monday with the Mrs. Glad you stopped by, too! I’ve heard this song since I was a kid in the 80’s, it’s definitely a classic!

  6. Romantic Tuesday? I just finished romantic Monday. Should we do this two days in a row? Well, I guess that’ll be all right. I grew up listening to the song and never knew what the song was about until High School. My mum and dad, they were sort of reserved I think, and I can’t remember the first time I ever heard the song. Yesterday was lovely, Mrs M and I took the day off and walked in the rain, went out to lunch, … (reserved, see?).
