Hi everyone and Happy Saturday! Today’s music is by local rapper/hip-hop artist Ocho Sanchez. Although Ocho relocated to Houston for work, Ocho’s heart hasn’t left El Paso. He said he misses Chicos Tacos and many other El Paso favorites a lot. He plans on returning to the Sun City in time. Ocho has some fascinating stories to tell on his latest “Hood Corridos Vol. 2” EP. The EP was engineered and mixed by El Paso’s Metafisix (Ray Varela). It was recorded in northeast El Paso. Ocho’s stories involve life in El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, immigration issues and drugs. I enjoyed the beats throughout. My favorite part was a skit by George Jung titled “This is Life.” If you’ve seen the 2001 movie “Blow” with Johnny Depp, then you know who Mr. Jung is. Mr. Jung himself discusses his opinion on today’s drug trade and war in this EP. A huge thank you goes out to Ocho for allowing me to listen to the EP before its release. “Hood Corridos Vol. 2” can be purchased for $7.99 on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Spotify this Sunday. Besides music, Ocho also likes to write and create films. He plans on doing more of it in the near future. Facebook is actually a blessing at times.
