Sunday Song, Etc. 8-28-16

Hi everyone! I hope your Sunday is going well! I got a shot on my neck and back this past Friday. I think it’s already starting to help. I don’t feel 100 percent (yet) but I feel a little bit better. I’m not as sore as before. Today I’m taking you WAY back to 1975 with War’s “Don’t Let No One Get You Down.” Several of War’s songs are considered to be some of the hottest oldies. A lot of oldies also include love songs from the 60’s and 70’s. Oldies remind me of relaxing on a Sunday afternoon. El Paso DJ Mike Guerrero plays oldies on his radio program, “The Fox Jukebox” on Sundays from noon to 8 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. You can listen to the radio program live right here. If you like Motown, Funk and R&B, I recommend this show to you. Listeners also call in to dedicate songs to their loved ones. The dedications make me laugh sometimes. Guerrero also has a Facebook page that includes low riders, pachuco culture (El Paso culture) and more. You can check it out/like the page here.

A relaxing Sunday or Sunday Fun Day for some El Pasoans includes having a barbecue with loved ones, along with taking a cruise to places like downtown, Ascarate Park and/or Scenic Drive. Some of my favorite barbecue foods include: hamburgers, hot dogs, steak, corn on the grill, baked potatoes, potato salad, baked beans, the list goes on! The doctor wasn’t lying when he said I’d be really hungry for the next few days after the shot. What’s your idea of a relaxing Sunday?

  1. Since I never know how my week is going and due to my jobs I have to make time and reserve it to make sure that I can write, create and schedule my posts. The daily quotes and my Monday posts are written in advance and scheduled. I simply want to make sure that I have the peace for writing and to post them frequently.
My songs are posted more spontaneously but since I am working out of home I mostly schedule them the evening before. All other posts are spontaneous posts! So, now you know… lol! 😊

  2. Ooh that sounds great, Erika! I wonder if I’m the only one who doesn’t plan posts. Well I anticipate blogging all week but I usually don’t write them until that day. Sometimes I write them the night before. I write ideas down at times but not all the time. Do you start writing your posts a few days before they come out? I change my mind sometimes too.

  3. Having no appointment, enjoying my garden and the (hopefully) nice weather, having an ice cream and having enough time for interaction but also for preparing and scheduling my posts for the coming week. Hope you enjoyed your Sunday, Lisa!

  4. This sounds like a relaxing Sunday fun day for you, Lisa. I love the songs of War. They were a great group, indeed. Cisco Kid was a friend of mine when I was of the right age. Ha! I wouldn’t mind some nice barbecue right now, too. Steak on the grill. ❤
