Monday Song 8-29-16

Hi everyone! I hope your Monday was good. I’m sorry I’m late with a song for today (or tonight I should say). It was a busy day and I’m almost ready for bed! I was really sad to hear the original Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) passed away at 83 years old today. “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” was one of my favorite movies growing up. I also enjoyed reading British author Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka books at 7 or 8 years old. A couple of years back, a former co-worker introduced me to this Willy Wonka house remix. I didn’t really like it at first but it kind of grew on me, especially today. Have you ever heard it? What do you think of it? My eyes are almost closing so I’ll let you go. I’ll see you on Tuesday! I’ll have a Romantic Tuesday song for you. I might or might not include other posts. Goodnight or good morning everyone!

  1. Hey, so much has happened. My laptop broke, moved into my apartment and I’m getting situated day by day. I finally got internet and a laptop and I’m slowly going through my emails. I miss the blogging world so much!

  2. Lisa, one of our favorite family movies is “Young Frankenstein,” which we quote often. He will be missed. I am glad he left his treasure trove of movies with us. Keith

  3. One of the great comedic actors of our time has passed. I’ll always remember Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Silver Streak and Stir Crazy with Richard Pryor, and of course Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. Now he can see Gilda Radner, his former wife again.

  4. I was sad when I heard about his passing at work yesterday, Erika. Gene Wilder’s movie version is so much better than the Johnny Depp one. It makes you happy. I hope you can watch it someday. I think you would like it. Glad you like the song 🙂

  5. Hi Dru! Thank you for your comment and welcome. 🙂 I didn’t like the Johnny Depp version at all. He wasn’t like Wilder at all. He was too creepy and mean. I love most Tim Burton movies though. It took me a couple of years to somewhat appreciate this house version of the song.

  6. A sad day for Wilder fans…and there are so many of us. I heard he didn’t reveal his Alzheimer’s because kids recognized him as Willy Wonka, and would be confused by his deteriorating health. Saying that he didn’t want anyone to go a day without a smile. Brilliant.

  7. A perfect song choice to mark a truly sad day. Gene Wilder will forever be my Willy Wonka. That film was a huge part of my childhood. Nothing could beat it!
    RIP Gene….

  8. Oh no, that’s sad. I did not even know that the movie with Johnny Depp was not the original….shame on me 🙈 I like this modern version of such a classic tune! Thank you for sharing.

  9. Very Appropriate Lisa but it will need to grow on me too. The original was so great. I’ll miss Gene but he left a large legacy. I too enjoyed Dahl’s books as a child and loved the movie with Wilder. I also loved Burton’s interpretation with Depp. The story is good no matter how presented and I’ll listen to your version of this song again and I’m sure will come to really appreciate it. Wishing you a nightie bye and hope when you read this tomorrow, you’ve had a GREAT Sleep. ~~dru~~
