Hi everyone and Happy Friday! I hope your weekend is off to a great start! This week was very long! I’m so glad to have a three-day weekend! I never thought I’d see the day when I’d be excited to lie around on a Friday night in my over sized sweats and a huge comfy t-shirt. I ate some mediocre Chinese food while blogging and checking out my social media pages. All I’ve been doing lately is eating! This is the life! It’s a three-day weekend so why not? I plan on hitting the gym in the next few days…maybe even on Saturday morning. Who am I kidding? It won’t be on Saturday! One of my co-workers made my Friday a little bit better when he brought me a red chile burrito with beans from La Colonial Tortilla Factory. This was one of the best burritos I’ve ever had in my life! Keep in mind, I’ve had lots of burritos in my lifetime! The restaurant makes their tortillas from scratch everyday. I’ll have to try their tacos and tostadas soon. By the way, happy September to you! I had to pick this classic from 1978 for today! I was sort of inspired by Tracy’s weekly Funky Friday posts. Earth, Wind & Fire fall into several music genres, funk of course being one of them. I enjoyed his funk post from today. You can check out Tracy’s post by clicking on the Funky Friday link above. It’s unrelated to EW&F but it was still a good read.
I have a couple of announcements to make. The group I volunteer for (Latinitas) asked if I would like to be a guest speaker at their conference for high school girls on Sept. 10. They want me to speak to the girls on how college prepared me for a professional career in media sales and journalism. I don’t know what I’ll come up with but I’m working on it. I can’t believe it’s nearly a week away! I’ll have to practice what I’m going to say. It’s been a few months since I’ve done a presentation in front of a hundred or so people. Yikes! I’m not one for public speaking but whatever, I’ll manage somehow. If I can convince one girl to go to college, I’ll know I did something right in my life. I’ll also be volunteering my time at their Business Expo on Sept. 24.
After God knows how many years, I finally started writing my first book this morning at around 4:30 a.m. Several blogging buddies have inspired me to get started on this lifelong goal and journey so I’m finally doing it! I hope I can finish the first book within one year. I plan on making it a series of three to four books. I hope I can finish the entire series within four to five years. Let’s just say the series includes drama, a ghost, drugs, Latino culture, recipes, suspense and more! The ideas are all in my head somewhere! I want to make sure the characters and plot are correctly developed. I plan to write a couple of hundred words each day going forward. Thank you to all of the published authors and bloggers who have inspired me. You all have taught me a thing or two about writing and publishing a book. Although I’ll be writing these books, I’ll keep blogging. I might have to cut down in time but I won’t completely quit. I guess in a way it was good I took a five-year break from writing back in 2010. I have a lot of book ideas! Thank you for all of the support everyone! I can’t thank you enough for reading my blog. Most importantly, thank you for your time. I’ll be back Saturday with local music and the second part of fellow blogger Sonni Quick’s interview. Have a goodnight everyone!

Oh baby the speaking engagement and the unwritten book are already SUCCESSES! According to the Bible we call those things that be not as though they were! Yes and Amen!
You got this!

To be honest…. that is the best way of spending a baseball game….lol!!! It is true, the inspiration here is priceless! Blogging developed so much or acutally all my writing and project ideas since I started blogging. Enjoy the adventure, Lisa! So happy for you!

The internet has been a big help for people to put their work out for broader distribution, not only for writers but musicians too.

Great! Having the Internet around makes it a lot easier to self-publish a book.

It would seem to be an extension of the writing (blogging) that I’m doing, so I wouldn’t rule it out. The thing is, until more people started reading what I have written and telling me that they liked it, I never even considered writing a book.

So, you do see a book in your future?

Or someday…but someday never comes. When I get an idea for a book, I’ll definitely write it.

Thanks Erika! You guys are inspiring! I’m really inspired by your blog and books! I couldn’t have done any of this without blogging and interacting with other writers here. I’m taking my son to a baseball game tonight and I’ll be writing. Lol. Hope you have a great weekend too! 😃❤
