Hi everyone! I hope your Tuesday is off to a great start! Today’s Romantic Tuesday song has been covered by several worldwide. The original was released in 1990 by Extreme. According to Wikipedia, Extreme’s guitarist Nuno Bettencourt said the words “I love you” were becoming meaningless. He said “People use it so easily and so lightly. They think by saying it they fix everything…or you can say that and everything’s OK. Sometimes you have to do more and you have to show it-there’s other ways to say ‘I love you.'” The song became number 1 in the U.S. and several other countries in 1991. Besides the U.S., it was number in Belgium, Canada, Netherlands and New Zealand. It was number two in the U.K.
Although there’s several versions to choose from, I included two versions I like by Frankie J and Mink. Which one do you prefer? Are there other versions you like that I didn’t include? Another singer who was known for singing “More than Words” was Selena. She was known to sing it while she was in the tour bus. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find her version. Have a great day, everyone! I’ll be back soon!
Yes, yes, exactly! That is what I so love about posting a song daily. You stumble over so many gems you did not know yet!

I’ve always loved the original from Extreme, but the two you included from Frankie J and Mink are great as well. As I just mentioned to Ovidiu on his latest “Every Number 1” blog post, a sign of a great song is that it can be successfully interpreted by artists of differing styles and genres. Nice post!

Haven’t heard this in a long time. The local radio station will play it every once in awhile. I liked the original version the best.

Me too, Erika! I didn’t like it at first but it eventually grew on me a few years later.
