Hi everyone! I hope you’re doing well. 9/11 will always be a bittersweet day for me. Today I’m celebrating my 35th birthday with family. Yikes, yea 35 is here…one of the ages I didn’t think I’d ever reach! I hope 35 is a year of many changes, especially in my career and life in general. I don’t feel well today but I’m going to take some meds in a bit. I keep thinking about the “Sex and the City” episode when the girls go to Atlantic City to gamble for Charlotte’s 35th birthday. Like me, she had mixed feelings about turning 35. It just seemed like a scary time for her! She felt young and old at the same time. I couldn’t find the episode but I thought this one was funny. I couldn’t resist not including the theme song!
I remember the times when my parents let me have friends over for my birthday. They would let the neighborhood girls spend the night. They would sometimes have my birthday parties at local pizza places. The homemade cakes and three-flavored ice cream are still unforgettable. My favorite cake as a kid was the marble chocolate cake my mom or grandma made. Ahh, to go back to being a kid instead of going to work and paying bills. My parents were right when they said to quit trying to act like an adult too soon because I wasn’t going to like it that much. OK I’ll admit it…I don’t always hate it! A thank you goes out to my blogging buddy, Tracy for mentioning my birthday here.
I’ll never forget my birthday 15 years ago when I turned 20. It seems like everyone remembers September 11, 2001 like it just happened a few days ago. In case you want to check it out, me and others from around the world told our stories to a news web site in London called Metro. You can check it out right here.
Where and what were you doing on 9/11/01? I was a sophomore at New Mexico State at the time. I was getting ready for class until I saw and heard what was going on via the alarm clock radio and TV. Needless to say, my classes and birthday were canceled that year. I spent my 20th birthday watching the news all day and night. I’ve always had a sweet tooth but that tragic day was an exception. We’ll never forget the day.

No problem at all, Fabiola! Thank you! I was scared to hit 35! Lol. I don’t even want to think about 40!

I think 35 is a great age. Just wait till you hit 40. From personal experience, I can tell you it’s even better! 😉 lol

Belated happy birthday!! I’m feeling a similar dread too.. I’m 31 next year, god willing, and I feel old when I hear 90s songs and old when I can’t relate to new slang or why these musicians think sampling and remixing songs is a good idea! In general,I’m not old yet,so I need to be chilled. My older half sister CRIED when she turned 40!! Hahahahaha!!!!

My brother’s wife was born on Sept 11 so we know exactly what you mean.
But to me it’s priceless to see, yet again, the great lengths that your parents went for their dear Lisa!
Such good, good, good people!

Belated birthday wishes Lisa 🙂 It is indeed a bittersweet feeling to have the birthday on that day right? Nevertheless I hope you enjoyed your day. And as for me, on that fateful day I was just at home with my folks and suddenly dad asked to switch on tv and all the news was streaming in. Everyone was in shock and turmoil..

I’d like to consider your birthday a redeeming event for that fateful day. a neighbor woke me up with a phone call that day, and told me to turn on the TV. I was working in newspapers, and father of two, at the time, second shift, so I was asleep when the attacks began.

Romp is good, but he doesn’t seem to be one of those dudes who eats and breathes football. If he has to retire, I doubt he or Cowboys fans will be broken hearted.

Prescott should work out well for y’all. I think Romo is done.

Oh yea a lot of people don’t like Cutler. Sorry about the loss in Houston. I think my sister went to that game. I can’t believe the Cowboys lost by a damn point! It was upsetting! They didn’t count a touchdown by Dez Bryant!
