Hi everyone! I hope your weekend was good! Saturday was busy here because I spent my morning and afternoon volunteering for Latinitas. The non-profit organization hosted a business conference for high-school aged girls. It had a good turnout and I was happy to spend my time there. I helped the organization set up the conference and ran errands for them.

I left the conference early so that I could see if New York City rapper Fifty Cent came to Spec’s, a Texas liquor store chain. He was supposed to promote EFFEN Vodka there. I spoke about him in my music post on Friday. In case you missed it, you can check it out here. He didn’t show up to a concert and after party at two nightclubs or Spec’s on Friday and Saturday. Me and several El Pasoans were disappointed! KFOX News reported that some concert goers waited from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. at the Tipsy Tiger Bar for his appearance! It turns out 50 Cent is currently spending his time in Dallas. He was seen posing with a couple of Dallas Cowboys players. It must be nice FLAKY CENT! As I’m writing this, the Cowboys are up 31-17 against the Chicago Bears.
I planned on blogging about another yearly event in El Paso called the Showdown Festival on Saturday. Unfortunately I’m still feeling under the weather. When I got home from volunteering and looking for Flaky, I fell asleep for hours. The showdown is a haven for tattoo lovers. The weekend event also features various local and worldwide musicians. Another disappointment for those in attendance is that California rapper Snoop Dogg didn’t show up! Snoop Dogg is no stranger to El Paso. Back in 2012, he was arrested and immediately released for marijuana possession in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Sierra Blanca is about 88 miles east of El Paso. Country superstar Willie Nelson was also arrested in the same spot in 2010. Today’s post includes a few songs from artists who appeared (or were supposed to appear) at the Showdown Festival.
P.S. A happy birthday goes out to my friend Eli Martinez. Thank you for reading and subscribing to my blog. I owe you a couple of beers and cucumber shots this week! I’m also happy and excited to meet fellow blogger and friend, Kerry from Postcards from Kerry this week. She’ll be visiting El Paso for a few days. Take care and good night/good morning!

Girl I ain’t got nothing on the sports part but I think it’s really messed up when a ‘star’ doesn’t show as promised. I mean, people had waiting to see these guys for a long time. Time and money wasted!
No respect! NONE.

Dak Prescott is very talented; I’m amazed he’s doing so well for a rookie, but he was very good in college too.

I really like the new Cowboys quarterback. He’s younger than Romo.

Thanks…the Ravens were lucky. They are undefeated, but I don’t have a clue whether or not they are any good. At least the defense looks a little better this year.

Lol. I was thinking the same thing about Snoop Dogg. Congrats on your win! It looks like our teams MIGHT be decent this year. Fu*k the other one! LOL. Thank goodness I didn’t buy tickets after all.

Becoming the norm, unfortunately. 😃

Congrats on the win! Maybe the reason Snoop didn’t show is because he remembers that arrest….as for 50, bah. He mumbles when he raps anyway…

Thanks Eclectic 🙂 People were pretty upset over 50 not showing up. Yea…I figured that out the other day (Everlast was the lead singers in House of Pain). Thanks for checking it out. I hope all is well for you.

At least the cowboys won… But what Fifty Cent did is simply unprofessional!

So disappointing for you that 50 Cent never showed, but it doesn’t surprise me ’cause – as you nicknamed him – he’s flaky. I never cared for his music. I do like Everlast, however. “What It’s Like” is one of the best songs of the late 90’s. You probably know, but he’s also the one singing lead in “Jump Around” – another great song from the 90s.
