Hi everyone! I hope you’re doing well! It’s been a LONG week! I’m so happy the weekend is finally here! I’m starting to feel a little bit better everyday! Today I’m taking you back to 1996 with Mark Morrison’s “Return of the Mack.” The song immediately became a hit in the U.K. and U.S. Wikipedia says the song was number one in the U.K. and number two in the U.S. Hanson’s “MMMBop” was the number one hit in the U.S. at the time. I was never crazy about that song or band (I’m referring to Hanson). I’m still hearing “Return of the Mack” on the radio 20 years later! In 1996, I was 15 years old and a freshman in high school. I remember one of my classmates singing this song to me! 🙂 How about you, what were you doing in 1996? Where does the time go? I can’t believe this song is already 20 years old! Take care, everyone! I’ll be back this weekend with more music and blog posts.
Thanks Tikeetha! Sorry, your comment was in my spam! I’m glad I finally found it…a year later!

In ’96, I was in graduate school working as a Graduate Assistant and as a Distance Education site monitor. Barely saw my son who was a toddler. That year is a blur!!!

In 1996 I re-met the guy I first went out with in high school (we went to a Doors Concert) He was my first date but we didn’t date much and in 1996 we got together again and have been so, this past 20 years. WoW. ~~dru~~

It was fun for the first 12 years, until I started to burn out. We did meet lots of great people, some of whom became good friends.

If I remember correctly, I think you blogged about seeing him in a club?? He went to jail/prison several times! It was all petty crime except for stealing a car and kidnapping. WTH? Lol.

In 1996, I was running a B&B in St. Louis. Seems a lifetime ago.

I actually have never heard this song but have heard it referenced in other songs!!! It all makes sense now. In 1996 I was two years old probably being a handful for my mama lol. Thanks for sharing- I found this quite enlightening and it’s certainly a nice R&B tune to listen to!
