Sunday Song 10-30-16

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a good Sunday! Since it’s a day before Halloween, I wanted to share these songs with you today. I’ve been hearing it almost non-stop for a couple of weeks. Although it’s been out since 1988, I hadn’t really heard until this year! I think the beat is really cool even though the video is kind of silly and gross. The song samples composer Charles Berstein’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street’s” theme song.

According to Wikipedia, the song was considered for “A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master” but the producers decided against it. New Line Cinema sued DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince’s record label for copyright infringement. They had to destroy their music video. Their vinyl record also had to include a disclaimer sticker that said “This song is not authorized, licensed, or affiliated with the Nightmare on Elm Street films. “Nightmare On My Street” was number 9 on the Billboard hip-hop and R&B charts and 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

I also included Berstein’s theme song. I’m not a Freddy Krueger/”Nightmare on Elm Street” movie fan but I have to admit the theme song isn’t too bad. However, I prefer DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince’s song more than the original theme song. Which one do you like more? Do you have any favorite Halloween songs? Feel free to leave them in the comments. Happy day before Halloween everyone! I’ll be back later on today or Monday with more music and posts.
