#RomanticTuesday 11-29-16

Hi everyone! I hope your Tuesday is going well. Maroon 5’s “Sugar” has a pretty good romantic story tied behind it so I want to share it here. According to Wikipedia, the song’s music video was shot at several ballrooms around Los Angeles during actual wedding festivities on Dec. 6, 2014. Lead singer/Voice coach Adam Levine came up with the wedding crashers theme for the video. Before filming the video, Maroon 5 invited their fans to watch the video shoots on Twitter. Fortunately, none of the couples had a problem with the band crashing their wedding and putting on a show. Who would? I wouldn’t have a problem with them crashing my wedding either! They were a joy to see live back in 2002 or 2003. I had the pleasure of seeing them in concert with John Mayer when I was attending New Mexico State. Some publications like Cosmopolitan and Rolling Stone said the video was staged. However, one of the wedding’s photographers who was at one of the weddings said it wasn’t. Perhaps half of the video was staged while the other half wasn’t? Since its release in January 2015, “Sugar” has been viewed on YouTube more than one billion times. The song peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was the 68th song in history to remain in a top 10 spot on the Billboard charts for 20 weeks straight. What do you think of this song? What are some of your favorite Maroon 5 songs? I included a video with the song’s lyrics, along with the actual “Sugar” music video. If you want to laugh a little, I recommend watching the music video. Have a good day, everyone and I’ll see you soon!

  1. Ehhh, I’ve never been the biggest fan of Maroon 5. I liked their music, especially when they started, but Adam Levine has made so many terrible, sexist comments over the years that I mostly just grind my teeth when I hear his music nowadays.
