Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a great Saturday! I don’t know whether I’m more excited to watch the big football game, Lady Gaga perform during the halftime show or seeing which commercials are the funniest on Sunday. I’ve also been wondering which songs she’ll perform. At a recent press conference in Houston, Lady Gaga said “The only statements that I’ll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I’ve been consistently making throughout my career. I believe in a passion for inclusion. I believe in the spirit of equality, and that the spirit of this country is one of love and compassion and kindness. My performance will uphold those philosophies.” She added, “That kid that couldn’t get a seat at the cool kids’ table, and that kid that was kicked out of the house because his mom and dad didn’t accept him for who he was? That kid is going to have the stage for 13 minutes. And I’m excited to give it to them.”
I’ve been a Lady Gaga fan since this song was released in 2008. If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you probably remember me blogging about her on several occasions. According to Wikipedia, “Poker Face” topped the music charts in 20 countries like the U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand, etc. “Poker Face” was the best selling song in 2009 with 9.5 million sales. The song won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. Lady Gaga said “Poker Face” was written by her as a pop song and tribute to her ‘rock n roll’ boyfriends. Bill Lamb from About.com said “‘Poker Face’ works well on pop radio but with slight mixing alterations it would be equally at home in a dark, sweaty, late night party atmosphere. She has refreshed the pop world in the U.S. and U.K. at one of the slowest times of the year. ‘Poker Face’ keeps the motors humming as everyone waits for the next step forward from Lady Gaga.” I’m absolutely positive this quote is still accurate. Do you have any favorite Lady Gaga songs? Feel free to leave them in the comments section. Have a great weekend, everyone! I’ll be back on Sunday with a Loveuary post.
I agree, Tony! I’m hoping I can catch one of her concerts this year.

Lady Gaga is getting me through the Trump years we are in. I think she is a saint with a off beat halo.

The Lady just crushed it yesterday. I have to be honest I wasn’t familiar with all her songs until recently when I started to “dig” a little because I knew she was performing at the Super Bowl. Wonderful performance. Poker Face is my favorite…for now at least!

I agree with you, Keith. I think I read Tony Bennett and Beyonce are also coming out with her. It should be a good one…finally! 🙂

Like Holly said, she has grown on me as well. I have her CD with Tony Bennett and saw them perform on a PBS special. There seems to be genuine affection there from both sides. I like that she is using her voice to speak out to help those who feel disenfranchised.

I enjoyed a few songs of hers, but was never a true fan until her latest release, Joanne. I thought it was such an amazing album. My family is looking forward to her performance at half time.
