Hi everyone and happy Romantic Tuesday! Today I’m combining the Loveuary Challenge and Romantic Tuesday. For today’s Loveuary post, I choose the parents prompt. I’m including a repost from a music series I did last year. The two-week series was titled Bands My Parents Introduced Me To. This repost includes a couple of stories about my parents and El Paso. My parents read my blog regularly. Whether my writing is online or in a print publication, they’ve always been supportive of it. I can’t say growing up with my parents was easy all the time. They were very strict but I’m still alive and I’ve never been to prison!

Journey will perform in El Paso on July 15. Guess who gets to write about them and hopefully interview them for a local publication? If you guessed me (Lisa A.), you’re right! I’ve already requested an interview with them. As of today, I haven’t heard back from anyone. Have a great day and I’ll see you soon! P.S. Happy birthday to my dad today too! Thank you for all of the lessons you’ve taught me throughout my life. The best lessons you taught me were to work hard and never do anything half a$$. I wish you many more years of good health and birthdays! Enjoy your day! ❤

Good morning everyone! Unfortunately, it’s another Monday! Today I’m starting my weekly music series, Bands My Parents Introduced me to. I’ll be including songs and stories throughout the week. Since it’s Monday, I think it’s a great idea to start the week off right with some Journey. My parents introduced me to Journey when I was about 5 or 6 years old. Here are some of mine and their favorite songs below:

These two songs always remind me of one of El Paso’s most famous fast food restaurants, Chico’s Tacos. Whenever I’ve gone, one or two of these songs are usually playing on the juke box, especially Lights. Chico’s Tacos was featured on the Food Network and Cooking Channel by El Paso chef, Aarón Sánchez in 2009 and 2015. Sánchez also makes appearances on Food Network’s Chopped and Cooking Channel’s Taco Trip. He currently works and resides in New York City. According to his Twitter page, he’s also a father and author. Last year I reached out to Sánchez and his staff for an interview. He or his staff never responded. Aside from the restaurant’s rolled tacos drenched in sharp cheddar cheese, tomato juice and a side of green chile, they are also known for their hot dogs in a round bun and burgers. Fries are a must with any of these foods.

One of my favorite songs that always gets me going on a Monday or any day! The song has always given me hope that anything in life is possible.

An upbeat, breakup song that’s gotten me through a couple of them.

My parents’ song ❤ I love this live version in Houston. I noticed that lead singer Steve Perry wears Nike in some of his videos. I couldn’t really tell if he’s wearing Nike Cortez? In my opinion, the Cortez shoe style still rocks these days! How about you? Do you have any favorite Journey songs and/or memories? Have a great Monday, everyone! I’ll have another Bands My Parents Introduced Me To post tomorrow.
