Hi everyone! A thank you goes out to my blogging buddy and sister, Erika Kind for asking me to participate in the My Very First Post challenge. The challenge was started by fellow blogger Sarah Brentyn. My first blog post is titled “Blog Part 2 from yesterday! 50 Shades!” My first blog post also says why I decided to start blogging. Life of an El Paso Woman officially began on Feb. 25, 2015. Here are the rules for this challenge below:
- No cheating. (It must be your first post. Not your second post, not one you love…first post only.)
- Link back to the person who tagged you (thank them if you feel like it or, if not, curse them with a plague of ladybugs).
Other rules:
- Cut and paste your old post into a new post or reblog your own bad self. (Either way is fine but NO editing.)
- Put the hashtag #MyFirstPostRevisited in your title.
- Tag…um…
tentwotwelvefive (5) other bloggers to take up this challenge.
- Notify your tags in the comment section of their blog (don’t just hope they notice a pingback somewhere in their spam).
- Feel free to cut and paste the badge to use in your post.
- Include “the rules” in your post.
Please feel free to participate. Of course, there is no obligation! I nominate the following bloggers to participate:
Please bear with me readers, I’m still getting the hang of it but here is my original blog post from last night
After a LONG break from writing, I decided to finally get back into it! Not only is this blog for me but it’s for my city and whoever wants to be a part of it as well! Our blog will be about life in the borderland, women’s issues, special people, places and events, popular culture, music and the list goes ON! Since 50 Shades of Grey is HOT right now I’m giving you my review on the movie. It will later be published in my childhood friend, Ryan’s e-zine/blog, this week or next. Warning it contains some sexual content. Guys, I also have to admit I have a guilty pleasure at the moment… I want to watch Party Down South. Ha ha ha! I may just do a review on that next time. Until next time people. Here’s my review below! Let me know what you think!
Fifty Shades of Grey equaled a good date night
Warning: Contains sexual content
Those damn Pandora Radio videos/movie trailers actually made me curious enough to go watch the movie on a Friday night! I promise you the ads never made me go out and buy a new car or switch to a different car insurance company. Even though some of my friends mentioned the movie and books from time to time, they never grabbed my attention.
One morning when I was rushing off to work recently, the trailer came up on my phone and it piqued my curiosity. Anastasia Steele, the innocent English literature college graduate AKA one of the main characters, asked Mr. Christian Grey, the other main character, about his play room. She asked something like “Is that like where you keep your Xbox?” Another scene also popped up when Mr. Grey, the successful entrepreneur, takes her on a ride in his helicopter throughout Seattle. OK, I was instantly hooked! I had to go and see what all of the hype was about!
Unfortunately none of my friends wanted to join me so I said OK I’ll go by myself. My grandma said she wouldn’t mind watching it but I was a bit hesitant due to the sexual content. Now that I’ve seen it, I may take her up on that. Never mind, I’m still not sure on that one. I told my fiance I was going to go watch it by myself but luckily he joined me and the countless other females and handful of men there. He didn’t particularly like the movie like I did but I give him credit for going with me and being a good sport. We had a good discussion after the movie and we’re still talking about it today.
OK for those of you, who like myself haven’t read the trilogy yet, I won’t give away TOO many spoilers. Anyway it all starts when Anastasia fills in for her sick friend. Anastasia interviews Mr. Grey at his sophisticated billion dollar empire for the college newspaper. You can feel their awkward yet innocent first encounter. You feel the lust that’s about to boil over throughout the majority of the movie. The body language and the movie’s tone at this point pretty much give it all away. Anastasia bites her lower lip when she’s nervous and/curious. Her skin turns bright red and she becomes clumsy. If I were actually there, I would probably feel butterflies in my stomach. Mr. Grey immediately picks up on her body language and is instantly attracted to her beauty and innocence. The fun somewhat begins when Mr. Grey buys rope, masking tape and cable ties at Anastasia’s place of employment, a hardware store.
Due to Mr. Grey’s previous life experiences, he is unable to fully commit to Ana. He is unable to give her true love and his heart. Mr. Grey was born to a drug addict prostitute. He was adopted by a wealthy family at a very young age. Although he had sexual encounters with other women in his apartment, they slept in separate beds and a written contract was always in place. Anastasia was a bit of an exception because they slept together in the same bed on an occasion. Ana also argued about various parts of the contract such as no fisting or other taboo sexual acts. However, Mr. Grey shows her he cares to a certain degree throughout the movie. He buys her a collection of expensive first edition novels, a new computer and a brand new car as a college graduation present. One can argue he did these nice acts so Ana would sign his contract and become submissive to him. Mr. Grey was once submissive to a family friend for six years.
Although creepy and romantic at the same time, Mr. Gray unexpectedly shows up in Georgia while Ana is visiting her family. Even though Ana doesn’t sign the contract, the couple has some very steamy, taboo love scenes in Mr. Grey’s red play room and on occasion in Ana’s apartment. Mr. Grey pleasures Ana by tying up her hands and wrists to one another and the bed post while lying naked and blindfolded. He licks her whole body or rubs a feather all over her body. Mr. Grey enjoys spanking Ana’s behind on a couple of occasions. Mr. Grey also rubs ice on Ana’s naked body. Although Ana enjoys all of the above sexual acts, Mr. Grey pushes the limit towards the end of the movie when he hits Ana with a leather object six times. The movie’s ending leads you to believe there will likely be a sequel which is pretty obvious since there are three books. The movie is great to watch alone or with a lover and/or trusted friend. The movie makes you question many issues, both sexual and non-sexual. The movie is definitely not for the conservative type. I’d recommend having a very open mind if you plan on watching it.
