Praying for Texas

Hi everyone. I’m sure you already know what’s been happening in my state with the flooding and Hurricane Harvey. It’s been very hard to see this on social media and the news, especially from my family and friends who are there. I have family and friends in Houston, Austin and San Antonio. One of my high school friends and her family had to be rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard from her home on Sunday afternoon. Luckily she was taken to a high school/shelter.

Aside from not being able to leave their homes, my other family and friends in these areas are fine. Fellow blogger and friend Kerry Duncan is also in Houston. She’s very worried because her husband is out of town for work. The airports in Houston are canceling flights so it’s going to be harder for him to come home.

I planned on going to Chicago this weekend to meet other bloggers in the WP community. I had to cancel my plans just days before due to personal issues. If I would’ve gone, I’d have to switch planes in Houston and Dallas. I’m really glad a few still showed up to the blogging event. I hope others will want to plan another U.S. blogging event sometime in the very distant future. I will not be able to plan anything in another state anymore. I could maybe plan an event in El Paso sometime next year. I can’t promise anything right now. For those who helped paid for the deposit in Chicago, I should be receiving it in the next few days. I will contact you about it.

El Paso is currently preparing for 1,500 evacuees. Several organizations are also asking for donations. Please help them if you can with donations to the American Red Cross and prayers. I will help as much as I can. I wish my loved ones could come home to El Paso if needed for the time being. They are always welcome here. Unfortunately, it’s not possible in some cases. For the next few months, I won’t be blogging as much as I’d like to. If time permits, I will blog 2-3 times a week. It may be once a week in some weeks. Texas Strong! Take care everyone. I’ll see you soon.

  1. Awww thank you sunshine gurl!!!… it feels good to be back here… i enjoy it on here…and I missed you as well too gurl… : ) Yes I am so happy to hear that they are ok too… my prayers goes out to your family and all…
It has been a rainy summer here …we don’t need anymore rain at all… but it looks like from what they are saying we will get hit with lots of rain and winds… lets hope not!!!… we still have big branches down in the yards from the last rain storm… we lost power Sunday the 20th from 1:00pm till after 10:00pm and only had 2 candles …lol… so the guys are going to get some tealight candles in a bag just to be on the safe side if the power goes out again… heck everything in the freezer was just about melted or thawed … to close for comfort…

  2. Hey gurl!!!…
This is so sad and scary … my heart goes out to all…and the worst part is that the flooding is from the storm before Harvey has even hit …so they expect a lot more heavy flooding in the areas that are already flooded…

  3. He has managed to fly to Austin – should be arriving in an hour but will have to stay there because every route is blocked from Austin to us. Armageddon! He kept wittering on about missing a work meeting. WTH?

  4. Thank you so much, Lisa. Still dry but roads are blocked. We are finding some humor in this. Some of the Cajun Navy have arrived from East Texas with their boats. They were being interviewed but danged if anyone could understand a word they said! Bless their hearts!!! 😘☂️🌂
