National Novel Writing Month

Hi everyone! Happy November! I hope you’re doing well! I’m excited and freaking out at the same time this morning. As I was going through my Facebook newsfeed last night, a Facebook friend said she is participating in National Novel Writing Month aka the NaNoWriMo challenge. Denise Chavez (My friend on Facebook) is an accomplished writer. I was fortunate enough to take a writing workshop with her earlier this year. You’re supposed to write 50,000 words in November. WTF? What did I get myself into? I’m pretty crazy so I’ve decided to take part in it. I was only able to get 300 words down this morning! You’re supposed to write a little over 1,600 words a day to reach that goal. The day isn’t over yet so I might get inspired to write some more later today. I started writing a book in February but I am starting over. This challenge says you can’t use anything that was written before. My ideas are pretty much the same. I’ll still be around on WP. It might not be as often but I will still be here. I’m also working on some freelance writing projects. Has anyone taken part in this challenge? If so, what was your experience like? I wanted to let you all know the challenge starts today in case you’re interested in trying it. People of all ages worldwide participate in this challenge. For more info., you can click here.

  1. I have not published anything yet. One of my “winning” novels needs work (a lot of work) but I would love to see it published. The rest are partials. I’m planning on writing about it in my blog but right now I really need to get in the swing of writing so much every day. I didn’t reach the 1667 words yesterday so I need to get working today to catch up.

  2. Oh my, I am humbled, Lisa. I wish you a good progress but most of all a lot of fun and joy. Because that is what opens your inner dam and lets all flow that wants to be written 💖

  3. Awesome! Good luck to you too! It’s hard to write sometimes, I understand. I’ll post an update here and there about how it’s going. I’m going to follow your blog too. Thank you for following me 🙂

  4. I’m participating for the 8th year. I’ve reached 50,000 words twice, failed miserably a few times….. It’s a challenge but if you just write (even when you know it’s bad writing) you can do it. I have found that I do better when I have buddies who are also doing it. I belong to a local Facebook group which is helpful and one of my kids usually takes part so we cheer each other on.

  5. You’ll be around WP a lot once I kidnap you and bring you here. it will be way too cold for you to go anywhere for a long time. that’ll give you lotsa opportunities to write.
