Hi everyone and Happy Tuesday! Thank God it’s a short work week because of Thanksgiving! Are you ready for the holiday? My parents and jazz appreciation professor at New Mexico State introduced me to Al Jarreau’s music some years back. I’ve always enjoyed Al Jarreau’s smooth lyrics and voice. I’m not sure why I hadn’t included him in a Romantic Tuesday post sooner. I felt like revisiting the 80’s through music again.
Today I’m taking you back to 1984 with “After All.” “After All” ONLY reached number 69 on the U.S. Hot 100 chart. It reached 26 on the R&B chart. The song was especially popular in the Philippines. I don’t really care for the original video so I included this one with great scenery and the lyrics instead. It’s too bad we lost Al Jarreau in February. I think he was an amazing and talented musician. He earned seven Grammy Awards and was nominated for several others. He was also known for singing the theme song in the 80’s television series “Moonlighting.” (Wow, that was SO long ago). I still remember my parents telling me to go to bed because I couldn’t stay up to watch it. LOL. I’ll have to look for it somewhere because I’m curious about it. Al Jarreau toured with several jazz legends such as Chick Corea, Miles Davis and many others throughout his life. I hope you like this song as much as I do. Have a great day, everyone and I’ll see you soon!
P.S. Happy early birthday to my mom! It’s tomorrow but I’m not sure if I’ll be on here. She’s one of my greatest supporters! We love you! Today is also five years since my good friend Erika passed away. May she continue to rest in peace.
