‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Makes Me Dance

Hi everyone! I hope you’re doing well! I’m still on assignment and working. My boyfriend and me had the chance to watch “Bohemian Rhapsody” on Friday. Thanks to my parents, I’ve been a Queen fan for at least three decades. If you’ve followed the blog for awhile, I’ve written about Queen and Freddie Mercury in the past. I listen to Queen a lot, especially when I’m driving. A lot of their music puts me in a relaxed, feel good mood. A couple of favorite songs that come to mind are “We are the Champions” and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” Oh yeah and “We Will Rock You” and of course “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Getting back to the movie…

Despite some of the reviews I read, I have to disagree with some of them. I think “Bohemian Rhapsody” is a good film. Some things like dates and events in the film are inaccurate but I still enjoyed it. For example, Freddie Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS two years after performing at Live Aid, not during or prior to it. The movie was dramatic but had some funny parts mixed in there. Most, if not all of the reviews I read said Rami Malek did a great job playing Freddie Mercury. I have to agree with this. The parts that stood out most for me was of course the music, when Queen was performing all over the world and their Live Aid performance in 1985. I was especially inspired to blog about “Bohemian Rhapsody” after reading my blogging sister, Erika Kind’s review. She wrote a very good review. You can check it out here.

Mercury had a unique but tragic life. He wasn’t always accepted in society or by his own family. This led him to be lonely, use drugs and have many lovers. I admire him because he kept being himself no matter what. You would think being rich and famous would make someone happy but that’s not always the case. Take care everyone and I’ll see you soon!

  1. I was really inspired by your post, Erika! It was very well written! I like that you also included their Live Aid performance. It seems to be one of the best performances on it! Thank you! ❤

  2. Lisa, I like it a lot what you wrote here. Yes, Freddie did not have an easy stand in life but as you said, he had the backbone to be himself when even he had to go through a deep valley until he could relieve himself. Happiness and tragedy so close together. But at least, he understood that he was loved.
Thank you very much for linking to my post, Lisa 💖
